Kirton in Lindsey Free Grammar School (1577-1816)

£5.00

Description

Until the Education Acts of the late Victorian period, there was little or no education provision for children in England yet Kirton in Lindsey had provided educational opportunities since at least the 1520s. Thanks to sponsored places at Cambridge University, over 30 local boys were given the opportunity to study.

This book tells the story of the rise and fall of the Free Grammar School over 239 years and, as well as acts of great altruism, there is fraud, tax avoidance and lies!

It’s quite a tale and Paul has been delving into the manorial archives again to uncover its secrets.
