Ancient Uses and Folklore of Fungi

November 26 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

An illustrated talk given by Vicky Buckberry – Senior Education & Community Officer at Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust

Vicky will discuss how fungi were used in the past and some of the stories linked to them. For example:

  • Fairy rings got their name from an ancient belief that the rings were created by pixies and witches.
  • The fly agaric mushroom is a key part of Alice’s adventures in wonderland.
  • Ink caps got their name from their uses for signing important documents. The ink comes from the way they dissolve into a puddle of black liquid when mature.
