Battle of Winceby 11th October 1643

October 27 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The Forgotten Battle That Changed Lincolnshire

The Battle of Winceby, fought on 11 October 1643, was pivotal moment in the English Civil War. It marked the first significant victory for Oliver Cromwell’s cavalry and the first action in which he fought alongside Sir Thomas Fairfax. The battle’s swift and decisive outcome led to the fall of much of Lincolnshire to Parliament and halted the Royalist ascendancy in the region. Despite its obscurity, the battle played crucial role in shaping the course of the English Civil War and Cromwell’s   rise to power.

Find out all about this important, but very short, conflict  with Dr Jonathan Fitzgibbons-Senior Lecturer in Early Modern History in the School of Humanities and Heritage at Lincoln University.
