DESCRIPTION:In 2019 John Allen told us the amazing story of Jack Binns – a local boy who became a radio operator on the SS Republic in 1909 and saved over 1\,500 lives (still the largest high sea rescue to date). He was later offered a position on the Titanic which\, fortunately for him\, he refused. Interest in the sunken vessel still goes on\, as it was reputably a `treasure` vessel delivering gold to the Tsar of Russia. This is the film that was made which tells the story and the re-discovery of the wreck. \nSS Republic \nJack Binns
